Three Stop Shop

a biweekly newsletter by divya ramaswamy

As an unfortunate consumer of capitalism, buying three things a week comes easy to me. There is something incredibly satisfying about sliding my card against the payment screen until the screen chimes and tells me that yes girl! You spent 10 hours worth of your work in 10 seconds!

I love shuffling in and out of stores and websites to give them my hard-earned dollars, but with one caveat: with any purchase, I try to be conscious of why I’m purchasing it. If the product was particularly bad or great, that’s when I go a step further. I’m texting in group chats, FaceTiming my friends, throwing full-blown reviews in WhatsApp channels… you get the gist. I’m a gossip.

With this level of commitment to my purchases, I started to wonder: what if I could just cut to the chase and send my 3 favorite (or least-favorite) things to my friends, family, whoever cared? What if those people could also send me their 3 things?

It was from this that the idea for THREE STOP SHOP was born, and why I’m writing this newsletter today. I guess what I’m trying to say, or the TLDR; of this is:

I like ruminating heavily and unseriously on the things I buy as much as I like hearing about the things other people in my life purchase. And I can’t wait to share them with you.
